  However, Lynden is big enough to offer plenty of choices among its 75-plus stores. They are primarily clustered in five retail centers: downtown Lynden, Fairway Shopping Center, Lynden Towne Plaza, Marketplace at Lynden, and Bender Plaza. While each is unique in the products and services it offers, they all offer architectural features that enhance the European and particularly Dutch flavor of the community.

Located at 515 Front Street in Lynden, you can look through shelves and shelves of used books, sip on your favorite espresso drink and snack on a scone or similar treat. There are a few tables at the front of the store for your relaxation. You may also donate your used books to the store or turn them in for a store credit, with pre-approval.   If you have only one opportunity to eat in Lynden, definitely make it the Dutch Mothers. This restaurant will not only feed you really well, but also give you a taste of Holland with it’s charming atmosphere and friendly staff. (360) 354-2174

• The Dutch Bakery

  This is a ‘Destination’ bakery where What’s Good Today? is a ludicrous question. These baked goods are folk art where the press of the hand lends signature to the piece and the flavors are flawlessly perfect. Chocolate caramel pie. Cinnamon sticky rolls. Something so simple as a Raisin Bun is perfection. This bakery serves soups and sandwiches as well and you’ll find those offerings equally memorable; whomping Dutch subs and a medley of soups (pea soup daily!).
  

• Sidewalk Cafe

  The Sidewalk Cafe is not on a sidewalk, as one might expect, but instead sits inside Lynden’s Dutch Village Mall. Even so, the cafe’s decor certainly gives the impression of outdoor sidewalk dining. Patio tables and sun umbrellas speckle the cafe’s floor space; many are placed conveniently alongside the indoor canal, allowing customers to watch the swimming fish while enjoying their meal. For those that prefer people-watching, gift shops and galleries are located across from the cafe for buyers and window-shoppers to wander through.

  Take-out or dine-in, you can't beat Little Caesars Pizza for a fast delicious meal for yourself or the whole family.
